Who is the Chancellor of University of Education, Winneba

Neenyi Ghartey VII is the head of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), a well-known school in Ghana. This article talks about his life, his schooling, and how he helps the university and the community.

Early Life and Education

Neenyi Ghartey VII’s real name is Daniel Kobena Bortse Ghartey. He was born on April 3, 1956. His parents, Dolphin Kobena Ghartey and Ekua Esaaba, are from Effutu Simpa State. He started school at the Winneba Urban Council Primary School and then went to the Methodist Middle Boys School. After that, he went to the Accra Academy Secondary School and finished his GCE O’Level in 1975.

He continued his studies at the Winneba Secondary School and finished his GCE Advanced Level in 1977. Then he went to the University of Ghana, Legon, where he got a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with Honours in Animal Science in 1980.

Further Studies and Career

Ghartey didn’t stop studying after that. He got a Commonwealth scholarship through the Ministry of Agriculture. This allowed him to study at the Central Poultry Training Institute, Hesaraghatta in India in 1988. There, he learned more about Poultry Nutrition and Feeding. In 1989, he went to the Ruppin Institute of Agriculture, Emek Hefer in Israel for a course in Farm Management, Planning, and Extension.

In 2009, Ghartey went to the University of Cape Coast to do a Post Graduate program. In 2012, he got a Master of Philosophy in Development Studies.

Contributions to Society and UEW

Ghartey has done a lot to help the community and the field of education. He taught Science and Mathematics at several schools, including his old school – Winneba Secondary School, Adisadel College, and Wesley Girls High School in the Central Region. He also helped people who lost their jobs in the Ghana Civil Service in 1984 and people who came back from Nigeria.

In recognition of his service to humanity, the University of Education, Winneba, appointed him as its Chancellor. As the Chancellor, Ghartey plays a crucial role in guiding the university’s vision and mission, contributing to its growth and development.
