Educational Qualifications

Candidates for the WASSCE

  • Six (6) subjects with credit passes (A1-C6) that include three (3) core topics (English Language, Mathematics, and Integrated Science OR Social Studies) and
  • Credits in any three elective topics that are pertinent.
  • Need to ace a practical interview with the department.

A. Candidates for the SSSCE

  • Credit passes (A-D) in six (6) courses, three (3) of which are required to pass in order to move on to the next level, such as English language, math, and integrated science or social studies, plus
  • Credits in any three elective topics that are pertinent.
  • Need to ace a practical interview with the department.

B. Experienced Aspirants

  • By September 1st of the application year, the applicant must be at least 25 years old. Need to keep: Post-Secondary Certificate “A” or Teacher’s Certificate “A”

SSSCE/WASSCE with passes in mathematics and English, or a professional training certificate from an accredited school

  • The UEW Entrance Exam must be passed.
  • Need to ace the departmental interview

C. Candidates for the Advanced Level of the General Certificate of Education (GCE)

  • Five (5) subjects, including English, Mathematics, and at least one Science topic (for non-science students) or an Arts subject (for science students), were completed with credit (Grade 6) in the GCE “O” Level Examinations.
  • Three (3) passes, at least one of which should be a Grade D or above.
  • Need to ace the departmental interview

A. Holders of Diplomas

  • Must hold a strong diploma in physical education or sports coaching from the University of Education, Winneba, or another accredited school.
  • Following graduation, a year of work experience is required.
  • Need to go through a department interview.
